An absolutely classic Red Sea itinerary, a liveaboard cruise on this itinerary offers the best of all worlds. If wrecks are your thing then Thistlegorm, Giannis D, Carnatic, and more should be enough to get your attention. Add some stunning reef dives at Ras Mohamed Marine Park, Danaba, and Gubal Islands, amongst others, and you have an itinerary set to please divers of all levels and experience.
The famous horseshoe shaped reef of Shaab El Erg is a perfect example of the reefs on offer on this cruise with its beautiful hard coral garden and the chance to see dolphins.
Abu Nuhas has four well-known wrecks: Giannis D, Carnatic, the Chrisoula K (’tile wreck’) and the Kimon M (‘lentil wreck’), all offering spectacular dives and plenty of fish life.
In between wreck dives you will also visit the reefs of the Straits of Gubal, Gulf of Suez and those to the north of Hurghada. A variety of deep walls and hard coral gardens with an abundance of reef fish make them well worth a visit.
Night dives can be superb as Gubal Island offers protected anchoring for the night. A small wreck at 8-10 metres makes for a spectacular night dive with lionfish, scorpion fish and its resident giant moray eel as well as the wreck of the Ulysses. Next onto the Kingston lying at Shag Rock, the Carina lying close to Sha’ab Ali and the Dunraven at Beacon Rock.
Ras Mohamed lies on the southernmost tip of the Sinai and is one of the best kept National Parks in Egypt with waters full of nutrients, steep walls going down to a depth of 1000 metres attracting a large amount of big fish and earning itself a reputation as one of the top diving areas in the world. Whilst here, you may have the chance to dive at Shark Reef, a sheer wall falling into the blue, as well as the wreck of the Yolanda.
With a contemporary and stylish feel, Blue Horizon takes Red Sea liveaboard diving to a whole new level and is truly deserving of her wins as ‘Best Liveaboard’ in the Sport Diver awards, as well as ‘Liveaboard of the Year’ awarded by DIVER magazine.

Egypt’s Red Sea is a thrilling dive destination, famous for its vibrant coral reefs, impressive shipwrecks, and a wide range of stunning marine life, including sharks. With around 49 different shark species inhabiting the surrounding waters, you’re likely to encounter several of these fascinating creatures during your visit. Here are some of the most commonly spotted shark species in the Red Sea:
Reef Sharks Grey reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks are the most commonly sighted species in the Red Sea.
Hammerhead Sharks The Red Sea is home to the striking scalloped hammerhead sharks. You can spot them during early morning dives, emerging from the depths to visit cleaning stations or gathering at current-swept drop-offs.
Oceanic Whitetip Sharks One of the most dynamic animals you’ll encounter diving in the Red Sea, the striking pelagic oceanic whitetip shark is a fascinating sight. With proper guidance from your dive guide, you can experience a safe and responsible up-close encounter with this incredible predator.
Tiger Sharks While tiger sharks are among the rarest and most elusive species in the Red Sea, they do patrol the open ocean and may be seen if luck is on your side.
Whale Sharks Certain spots in Egypt’s northern and southern Red Sea become hotspots for whale sharks for a few months every year. These massive filter feeders can be spotted cruising in the shallows, feasting on their favorite meal – plankton.
Leopard Sharks Also known as zebra sharks, these spotted bottom-dwellers are most often encountered resting on the reef or sand.
Thresher Sharks A highlight of any dive trip, thresher sharks are among the Red Sea’s most shy and elusive species. Luckily, several famous dive sites offer regular sightings.
Liveaboard diving is widely regarded as the ultimate way to experience an unforgettable diving vacation. For many seasoned divers, this type of adventure is essential for exploring remote destinations, such as Costa Rica’s Cocos Islands or The Galapagos Islands. Liveaboard charters offer the unique opportunity to explore vast areas and dive different parts of a country, such as the Maldives or Raja Ampat.
A liveaboard is a purpose-built scuba diving vessel or an existing boat that has been adapted to cater to divers. These trips typically last longer than one night, with the average duration being 7 nights. Liveaboard boats can host between 12 and 30 divers, although smaller and larger vessels are also available. Most liveaboard packages include diving, food, and drinks.
