Cruise Highlights

All of Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat casts a spell on all who visit: scuba divers, scientists, photographers, and crusty sea salts alike. This group of majestic islands, located on the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Papuan “Bird’s Head Seascape,” lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most bio-diverse marine region on earth. There are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with amazing, diverse hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Then there is the marine life- lots of it, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Raja Ampat’s reefs, from pygmy seahorses to top predators, are teeming with life.

The region is huge, 50,000 sq km, with hundreds of islands and an astounding array of habitats, translating to wildly different diving experiences. They range from pelagic drift dives to magic muck dives, and there are even some habitats that are special to Raja Ampat, such as clear-water mangroves with corals growing right next to them. There are thousands of potential dive sites, and there are chances for new and amazing discoveries on every trip.

Raja Ampat is also known for its spectacular above-water scenery. Sparsely inhabited, most of the region still has pristine rain forests atop dramatic limestone islands and cliffs, uninhabited bays with white sand beaches, and all sorts of hidden treasures to greet the intrepid explorer. It’s a kayaker’s dream- an intricate coastline with caves, bays, gorges, and hidden rivers, all buzzing with exotic tropical wildlife and rare plants.

Safari Liveaboard

Dewi Nusantara

Dewi Nusantara provides a five-star liveaboard experience even in the furthest corners of the Indonesian archipelago.

With an overall length of 58 meters and a beam of 12 metres, our three-masted schooner moves with grace and stability that only larger ships can offer. Two thousand square meters of sail are complemented by two 500-horsepower marine engines and two de-salinators that each produce 5000 litres of fresh water daily. We purposely designed the “Goddess of the Archipelago” to operate independently for long periods at sea while offering unparalleled comfort.

Eight spacious air-conditioned Deluxe Staterooms can be adapted to either a double bed or twin singles and each has a spacious en-suite bathroom. The Master Cabin is the size of a large hotel suite and is positioned at the aft of the boat to take in spectacular sea views.

Dewi Nusantara guests can expect to experience the romance of a bygone era and indulge in the luxury of space from bow to stern. There is a vast lounge, a large outdoor relaxation area and two different sun decks.

The dining facilities are those of a five star restaurant.

Thanks to her size, Dewi Nusantara has become the ultimate live-aboard dive boat in Indonesia. Her discreet and attentive Indonesian crew of 19 is complemented by one cruise director and four dive masters who all have vast experience in our diving destinations.

Raja Ampat

Sharks

Raja Ampat is a haven for a variety of shark species, making it an ideal habitat to witness these majestic creatures in their natural element. Blacktip, whitetip, and grey reef sharks thrive in the area, thanks to the abundance of prey in the ecosystem. These top predators are fascinating to watch as they cruise in search of their next meal.

At deeper depths, four species of walking sharks reign supreme. These include tasselled and ornate wobbegongs, as well as two species of epaulette sharks, which may wriggle and “walk” across the sea floor, but are in fact skilled predators.

Wobbegongs and epaulette sharks are typically found in shallow temperate and tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean and eastern Indian Ocean, particularly around Australia and Indonesia. However, in 2013, one of the epaulette species was discovered near Halmahera Island in Raja Ampat and was named Hemiscyllium Halmahera, making it a unique and special part of the area’s marine life.

Liveaboard

Liveaboard diving is widely regarded as the ultimate way to experience an unforgettable diving vacation. For many seasoned divers, this type of adventure is essential for exploring remote destinations, such as Costa Rica’s Cocos Islands or The Galapagos Islands. Liveaboard charters offer the unique opportunity to explore vast areas and dive different parts of a country, such as the Maldives or Raja Ampat.

A liveaboard is a purpose-built scuba diving vessel or an existing boat that has been adapted to cater to divers. These trips typically last longer than one night, with the average duration being 7 nights. Liveaboard boats can host between 12 and 30 divers, although smaller and larger vessels are also available. Most liveaboard packages include diving, food, and drinks.
